So normally we would post an update on how the weekend went after a gig, thank everyone involved, thank the crowd for turning up etc.. but after this one I’m still kind of lost for words !
It was off the scale bonkers !..
First of all let’s start off with Kim Wilde.. when Kim and Pete 1st started talking about doing Kids live together it was a couple of years ago, unfortunately Kim was very busy and we couldn’t make it work. This year however. the planets aligned and it turned out that she had a major gig of her own to do in Birmingham the same day we were scheduled to play Download.. this was it!.. a bit of scheduling between Andy Copping and Kim’s management later and it was on.. although none of us could really believe it would happen.
Fast forward a few months and we find ourselves nervously awaiting Kim to arrive for a quick rehearsal.. We all wondered if she would realise that we are in fact rubbish and do a runner, but no! she was bloody ace, great laugh and really up for doing this.. more so she was the one who suggested playing some of our songs too!
So on to Saturday, alas the weather did what the weather does and we arrive to find it just a tad wet underfoot.. but that kind of makes it a real festival doesn’t it ?
We get shown to our port-a-cabin to find it’s directly opposite Ozzy’s dressing room ! (never saw him though)..
Nikki Sixx was wandering around, and also Dave Mustaine walked by whilst we all stood there like fanboy school kids 🙂
However, when we spotted Kim walking into the backstage area we all had massive grins on our faces, this was it… it was going to happen.
Kim was great, she had time for everyone, had photos taken with all the band and crew, spent time chatting to our wives and girlfriends, really made everyone feel welcome.
Soon after we were informed that we were to be taken to the main stage for a photo shoot!.. now this was unreal!
We have all dreamed about what it would be like to walk up those steps and walk out onto the main stage right?
Well I can tell you, it’s bloody ace! It’s amazing how big the main arena looks from up there. it was an amazing privilege and one that we can’t thank Andy Copping and his team enough for.. not sure anyone in the crowd waiting for Sixx AM had a clue who we were and what was going on, but we had a ball!

So gig time…
You know, we never really know what to expect when we do these things, you always think the worst and imagine an empty tent greeting you, but we shouldn’t have worried !
Even before we went on we could hear the chanting, many inflatables were already bouncing around the tent and it looked rammed from side of stage.. this was going to be a good one! It was! It was all a blur but from the intro onwards it seemed like utter chaos.
Clowns, balloons, silly string, balls, new Cobwoman who caught fire (just a little bit), Sumo, Sheep and shepherds, Gunge tanks…. and Kim 🙂
She nailed it didn’t she?
Would you ever have thought you would hear Kim Wilde sing Egg Sandwich… or Watch out Grandma ?
The best bit?.. you lot!.. you raised the roof for her and we know she really appreciated it.
It goes without saying that WE also can’t thank you enough.. the smiles on our faces will never leave and the memory of this one will last forever!
We have a huge list of people to thank:
